2024 MGPA Annual Conference Scholarship

2024 MGPA ANNUAL CONFERENCE SCHOLARSHIP

The Minnesota Gift Planning Association (MGPA) is pleased to announce the availability of our 2024 MGPA Conference Scholarships November 13-14, 2024.  In alignment with MGPA’s objective of promoting diversity and inclusion in the fundraising and related professions, we seek to remove barriers that inhibit attendance at our Annual Conference. We seek to award financial scholarship awards to individuals who are focused on engagement in and improvement of the fundraising profession, with a priority for those that are members of the BIPOC community (Black, Indigenous, or People of Color), fundraising representatives from smaller organizations, and students in the fundraising field.

Those who wish to apply for a scholarship must meet the eligibility criteria and submit a short statement outlining the anticipated benefits from attending the 2024 MGPA Conference.

Applications Due: Friday, October 18, 2024. The committee will review applications the week of October 21.
The scholarship window is now closed.

Scholarship is intended to cover the cost of the registration fee for the 2024 Annual Conference.

DEADLINE FOR APPLICATION: 11:59 pm (Central Time), October 18, 2024.

General Eligibility Criteria:

  • Must be working in the field of fundraising OR gift planning OR seeking a post-secondary degree in one of those areas or related areas (e.g. nonprofit management).
  • Must be focused on engagement in and improvement of the fundraising profession.
  • Priority given to those that are a member of the BIPOC community (Black, Indigenous, or People of Color), representatives from smaller organizations, and students in these fields.

MGPA will seek funding for scholarships through Scholarship Sponsorships as described in the Conference Sponsorship Kit.  Scholarship Sponsorships, at a cost of $750, allow the sponsoring organization to send one of its own representatives as well as one scholarship grantee to the Conference.

  • If a Scholarship Sponsor indicates a preference to sponsor members of these certain communities, where possible, MGPA will attempt to match such Sponsor desires with scholarship grantees, however, the discretion of MGPA in the scholarship grants will be exercised solely by MGPA and MGPA cannot guarantee that any such matches will be possible or implemented.
  • If the number of Scholarship Sponsors exceeds the number of approved scholarship grants, Scholarship Sponsors will be allowed to re-direct their sponsorship funding to other MGPA initiatives and sponsorship opportunities or may request a refund of their sponsorship funding in accordance with the refund policy for Conference Sponsorships, see policy here.
  • If the number of scholarship applicants exceeds the number of Scholarship Sponsors, then MGPA may determine to award additional scholarship grants through the organization’s general scholarship process. The number of, and funding for, any such additional scholarships will be determined by the MGPA Board in its sole discretion and MGPA cannot guarantee that any such additional scholarships will be available in any year.

Applications are judged by a committee and MPGA reserves the sole discretion in making scholarship awards, applying criteria, and determining the number and funding of such awards.

Scholarships are awarded to the individual applicant and are not transferable.

Should a grantee leave the profession or disqualify before the 2024 Conference, MGPA reserves the right to award the scholarship to another individual from the current pool of qualifying applicants.
